Jewish Teen Philanthropy
Information for JTPI
Teen Programming Capacity:
This will allow Federation to reach the teen population of Delaware. While individual synagogues have programming for teens, this allows them to come together as one larger community and give them the opportunity to feel that they have a place in the Delaware Jewish community.
Philanthropy Program Vision and Growth:
This program should continue until teens are finished with high school. It should allow them the opportunity to learn about philanthropy so that in the future they will be able to make thought out and knowledgeable decisions about giving and donating. Each year the program will grow with another grade added with a minimum of ten teens per grade. They will make the decisions about where their money is going.
Teen Recruitment Plan:
In order to make this a truly community program, we will ask rabbis and educators to nominate 2 of their students for the program as well as reach out to those that are unaffiliated with any of the synagogues.
Delaware Jewish Teen Philanthropy Initiative is a teen foundation that allows the opportunity for teens to be responsible for accepting grant proposals, researching and visiting organizations, and allocating funds to make an impact on the local and international Jewish community. Through this experience teens will learn various key giving terms such as philanthropy, tzedakah, and charity and how they may apply to their lives and learn about giving through a Jewish lense with Jewish values. Finally, this program is a great way to learn valuable skills including leadership skills, public speaking skills, and working with a team.
