"Next month, thousands of Delaware Jews and millions of Jews world-wide celebrate Passover. Throughout our history, generations of Jewish children have been told the Exodus story so they will remember their Jewish heritage. At Passover, we remember the bitterness of slavery, the ten plagues, the flight to freedom and the beginning of the renewal of our covenant with God. For many adults, their fondest Jewish childhood memories are of the Passover Seder. It is truly a time to remember our heritage. But being a Jew involves more than remembering the Passover story."
"For thousands of years, in countries around the globe, Jews have come together to celebrate the Passover. More than any other celebration it is our “binding tie” with the root tradition of our people—the exodus from Egypt and the eventual receipt of the Torah at Mount Sinai. On behalf of Halina Wind Preston Holocaust Education Committee Chair, Steve Gonzer, we are honored to share the wonderful news that on Sunday, June 30th, the Delaware Legislature House Chamber passed House Resolution (HR18), which encourages all Delaware public and private school teachers to teach their students about the Holocaust and genocide. The attached resolution is now on permanent record in the Delaware State Legislature. Please know that HR18 will be shared with the Delaware Department of Education and Superintendents of all Delaware school districts as well as all public and private schools. Although not a law, HR18 serves as a catalyst for a future Holocaust education bill that will become law. We gratefully acknowledge and thank Representative Debra Heffernan (D), sponsor of HR18, as well as Representative Jeffrey Spiegelman (R), co-sponsor of HR18.
We wish to acknowledge and thank HEC Chair, Steve Gonzer, who has worked tirelessly in getting HR18 sponsored and passed. There were countless hours, meetings and behind-the-scenes efforts that allowed HR18 come to fruition.

We Grow Stronger TOGETHER
On the heels of the most heinous act of Anti-Semitism on U.S. soil that occurred in Pittsburgh, our local community as well as the global Jewish community remain on heightened awareness. We are alarmed at the increasing acts of hate and violence permeating our country and a climate that tolerates indifference.
Earlier this week, the Jewish Community Campus received a suspicious package that required a full evacuation including pre-school and day school children, teens, adults, seniors and staff. The incident was handled seamlessly thanks to the strength and clarity of our safety and security protocols coupled with the strong relationships we have with local law enforcement. Although the package did not pose a threat, we were prepared and responsive nonetheless.
We are grateful for the dedication and commitment of the professional staff and first responders who help ensure a safe and secure campus each and every day. This is, and will continue to be, our first priority.
We Grow Stronger TOGETHER.
